The quality growth boutique was long the locomotive of Vontobel's asset management arm. The franchise is now beefing up its research capabilities in Hong Kong.
The departure of Rajiv Jain last year was a setback for Zurich-based Vontobel's quality growth boutique, which the fund manager led for many years. The unit has retrenched since this year, and is reinforcing its research capabilities with the hire of Maggie Chau, Vontobel said on Tuesday. She joins from consultancy PWC and will be based in Hong Kong.
Prior to Chau's hire, the Vontobel boutique also hired two stock specialists in New York: Rob Hansen (pictured above) was previously a real estate and commodities analyst with Deutsche Bank.
Ian Chun (pictured above) analyzed the payments, hardware and IT services and U.S. telecommunications sectors for Sanford C. Bernstein, a U.S. brokerage, prior to his hire by the Swiss bank.
