Singapore-based Avanda appointed a head of business development and marketing. The new hire hails from J.P Morgan.
Avanda, a global multi-asset investment manager, has named Faith Toh as head of business development and marketing, according to a message sent on Monday. In the newly-created role, Toh (pictured left) focuses on developing the firm’s product and marketing strategy, and deepening the firm’s relationships with leading asset owners, including sovereign wealth funds, central banks, pensions, insurers, endowments, foundations, and family offices.
Toh was previously with J.P. Morgan Alternative Asset Management Hedge Funds Solutions, a $12 billion manager of multi-strategy hedge fund products and solutions, in the client portfolio management team.
Avanda Investment Management was founded 2015 by three former executives of Singapore's sovereign wealth fund GIC: Ng Kok Song was chief investment officer of GIC until 2013, when he completed a 42-year career in the investment of Singapore’s foreign reserves.
Seed Money From GIC
Cheng Chih joined GIC in 1993 and retired as chief risk officer in 2011. Until his retirement in mid-2011, Wee Ghee was the president of GIC Asset Management, responsible for foreign exchange, bonds, equities, hedge funds and commodities.
In 2016, Singapore's holding company Temasek invested $3 billion in the Avanda Global Multi-Asset Master Fund. Avanda was partly seeded with money from the approximately $300 billion GIC.
