The supervisory board of UBS is in for some changes. Out goes Beatrice Weder di Mauro, while two new members will stand for election at the annual general meeting of Switzerland's largest bank.

The board of UBS named Claudia Boeckstiegel and Patrick Firmenich (pictured below) as candidates for election to the supervisory committee of the bank. The annual general meeting is set for April 8, 2021.

Boeckstiegel is the general counsel of Swiss drug giant Roche and a member of its enlarged executive committee. She started her career with Roche in 2001 at the German unit and has since been appointed to a number of top jobs in the legal department of the Basel-based company.

She commenced her professional career as an attorney in private practice in Germany. She completed her law studies in Heidelberg and obtained a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from Georgetown University, Washington D.C. Boeckstiegel is a Swiss and German citizen.

Firmenich has been chairman of Firmenich International, the world's largest privately-owned perfume and fragrance company, since 2016. He was CEO of Firmenich from 2002 to 2014 and a member of the board of directors since 2002.

Experience in Banking

He began his career with Firmenich in 1990 and has since held various leadership positions as corporate vice president, vice president of Fine Fragrance Worldwide, and director-general of Firmenich & Co. in Paris.

Previously, Firmenich worked in various positions in the legal and banking sectors. He is a member of the board of directors of Jacobs Holding, INSEAD, and INSEAD World Foundation and is also a member of the advisory board of the Swiss Board Institute.

Admitted to the Bar

He holds a Master in Law from the University of Geneva and was admitted to the Geneva Bar in 1987. He also holds an MBA from INSEAD and is Swiss.
