Australian wealth manager AMP has confirmed that it has a number of potential suitors for its investment management unit.
AMP is in talks with multiple parties for a potential sale of its Collimate Capital investment management unit, according to a statement.
According to various media reports, the real estate firm Dexus, one of the multiple interested parties, appears to be potentially looking at buying Collimate Capital’s Australian real estate and infrastructure equity business.
Collimate Capital Demerger
AMP is currently demerging its activities with those of Collimate Capital, which was formerly called AMP Capital.
If the deal is successful, it would mark a pivot away from the original plan that foresaw a demerger and subsequent plans for a public listing of Collimate in the first half of this year.
«AMP will continue these discussions with a focus on maximizing the value for shareholders by getting the best outcome for clients and employees,» the Australian wealth manager said. «While these discussions continue, AMP remains in a position to pursue either a sale or demerger of these businesses.»
