US banking giant Morgan Stanley has officially launched its futures company in mainland China.

Morgan Stanley Futures (China) has officially launched, according to a statement. 

Headquartered in Beijing, the wholly-owned subsidiary of Morgan Stanley provides brokerage services for China onshore commodity futures listed on the Dalian Commodity Exchange, Shanghai Futures Exchange, Shanghai International Energy Exchange and Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange.

The US bank first received approval from the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) to set up the unit in May 2023.

China Financial Futures Exchange

Once the necessary qualifications are obtained, Morgan Stanley Futures (China) plans to also offer brokerage services for equity and fixed income financial futures and options traded on the China Financial Futures Exchange.

«This is another important step forward for the Firm in China as we continue to build our integrated platform to best support domestic and international clients,» said Morgan Stanley CEO Gokul Laroia.
