We wish our readers who are observing Singapore's 53rd birthday relaxing and peaceful festivities. Here are five interesting things you could do on your holiday:
1. Visit the National Museum
The National Museum’s front lawn will welcome you with bouncy castles between 10am to 12pm, and 2.30pm to 6pm. Families can participate in a colouring contest based on a Singapore icon, balloon sculpting, literary recitals, storytelling sessions and more. The program guide can be found here.
2. Get Discounts for Visiting Animals
For closer encounters with native wildlife, you can take the WILDerful Singaporean trail at Jurong Bird Park, River Safari, and Singapore Zoo. Visitors could get special shows put up by fellow residents on this country. Details of various trails can be found here.
3. Visit the the Sports Hub for Workout Lah!
Too much good food over the last few days? Enjoy a cardio-fusion dance workout choreographed with a Singaporean twist, or put your kid into the Junior Super Warrior Challenge. But if you prefer to just exercise your brains, you can test yourself on a Kopi Quiz taking place at noon. Details here.
4. Visit Singapore Mint Stores
The Singapore mint celebrates its 50th Anniversary this year and has launched a limited edition commemorative medallion. If you are a coin collector, you could visit its stores at ChinaTown Point, Suntec City Mall, or City Square Mall. Its Coin Gallery at Teban Gardens Crescent is closed on public holidays.
5. Walk Around the Banking Bay to Art Science Museum
The banking district along Fullerton Road stretching to Esplanade Drive and onto The Waterfront Promenade can provide a surprisingly peaceful and scenic walking route on a public holiday morning. Look out for road closures on this map or changes in bus routes if you intend to head to the area.
