4. «One bank» – Many Opportunities

Universal banks are rapidly exploring synergies internally between their investment banking, asset management, and private banking arms to generate revenue from what they call «one bank» collaborations.

From providing corporate financing solutions, such as single share financing to wealthy families post-IPO, to offering institutional-leveled mandates for family office clients, banks are rapidly realizing new opportunities from partnering between businesses.

And given not only the sheer size of China’s market but a deliberate macro strategy by its leadership to convert into a consumption-driven economy, the opportunities to tap into a private wealth through «one bank» collaborations (especially given the absence of retail presence by many foreign players) will not only boost profits but act as a critical differentiator.
