The son of a wealthy Indian family allegedly drove a newly gifted BMW from his father into a river to express discontent from not receiving a Jaguar instead.

Local police allege that the 22-year old male, named Akash, drove his new BMW 3 Series into the river after receiving it as the birthday present instead of the Jaguar he had insisted on instead, claiming the car was too small. Akashi and his family are allegedly already owners of several SUVs.

Akash «threw away his BMW in a fit of anger», according to police officer Mukesh Kumar who added that it was bought through the sales of a Toyota Innova received from in-laws.

Sources also added that Akash made a video to forward to his parents and available footage includes the submerged car’s retrieval by local police.

According to Akash’s father, a wealthy landlord, no such request for a Jaguar was ever made before. He also insisted that Akash did not deliberately drive the BMW into the river but instead fell in after swerving to avoid hitting an antelope.
