Niklas Nikolajsen is something of a role model for digital asset aficionados. But the crypto millionaire's latest move is straight out of traditional finance.

Niklas Nikolajsen (pictured above) was an early adaptor of bitcoin, and the Swiss-based firm he set up to realize his plans for cryptocurrencies has grown by leaps and bounds. Now, the crypto millionaire is setting up Nikolajsen Capital – a family office and investment firm to manage his money, he told his Facebook followers.

Unlike Bitcoin Suisse, which recently moved its 70 staff into far larger office space, the new firm will serve Nikolajsen alone. How much much exactly Nikolajsen Capital will manage remains a mystery (for reference, the wealthy families who set up their own financial offices typically own more than $100 million in assets).

Rosy Bitcoin Prospects

The Danish-born libertarian-entrepreneur has carefully tended his new-wealth image since moving to Switzerland in 2011 and founding Bitcoin Suisse five years ago. Bentley customized its signature «Flying 'B'», mascot into a bitcoin symbol for Nikolajsen, who carries a physical bitcoin in his pocket as a talisman.

His ostentatiousness is well-founded: Bitcoin Suisse's financial prospects this year are rosy, Nikolajsen recently told finews.com in an interview. Nikolajsen, who began his career as a software architect and developer, invested as a private person in bitcoin before cryptocurrency was known, at 77 cents (today, bitcoin trades at $6,460).

«Exciting News»

Nikolajsen looks to be taking a leaf from financial dynasties like BMW's Quandt family, or the Bertarelli clan's office, Waypoint. The Nikolajsen family office, also based in Zug, will devote itself to real estate, collateralized lending and the family's private investments, according to its website.

He said he won't be leaving his day job as chairman of Bitcoin Suisse Group «nor divert my attention away from those responsibilities.» But he promised «soon there will be exciting news coming out of Nikolajsen Capital, especially if you live in Zug, Switzerland...».
