California-based Franklin Templeton has appointed a new portfolio manager within its China equity investment team.
Franklin Templeton appoints Nicholas Chui as senior vice president, portfolio manager within Franklin Templeton Emerging Markets Equity’s China investment team, according to a statement. Chui succeeds Michael Lai, portfolio manager at Franklin Templeton Emerging Markets Equity, who will be retiring from the firm.
Based in Hong Kong, Chui reports to Sukumar Rajah, senior managing director and director of portfolio management for emerging markets equity.
Chui has 14 years of investment experience in China and Asia equities. He joins Franklin Templeton from BlackRock, where he was a China equity portfolio manager since 2020. Prior to that, he worked at abrdn for 10 years, last as its deputy head of Hong Kong/China equity team and lead manager of its China A-shares equity strategy.
