BNY Mellon has hired a longtime Mercer investment manager to foster relationships with global consulting firms in Asia markets including as Japan, Australia, Greater China and Korea.
The U.S.-based fund manager said it is hiring Deborah Bannon as its head of consultant relationships and client services, based in Hong Kong. Her appoinment is effective immediately.
Most recently, Bannon spent five years as Mercer Investments business leader in Hong Kong, where she ran an investment team responsible for North Asia, excluding Japan, until last December.
She will report to Lindsay Wright, who is BNY Mellon's head of distribution and co-head of its investment management business in Asia-Pacific.

«Deborah's experience in working with a wide range of clients including sovereign wealth funds, central banks, pension funds, insurance companies and wealth managers will put her in good stead for her role with BNY Mellon Investment Management,» Wright said.
Prior to Mercer, Bannon spent nearly eight years as Pioneer's head of institutional sales in Hong Kong. Her hire follows that of Chris Hamer in a similar role for Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
