Citigroup has poached a well-known veteran HSBC investment banker in Hong Kong for a Asia Pacific-wide role.
The American bank said it hired William Tang this month as head in Asia of its consumer and retail investment banking business.
The hire, first reported by «eFinancialCareers,» is notable for Tang's 13-year seniority at HSBC. A well-respected Asia investment banker, he has worked on notable transactions in the Chinese retail industry for the British bank.
M&A Boutique Exit
Tang, who slots into virtually the same role at Citi that he held at HSBC, replaces Daniel Wang, who had left to run Asian activities for Harris Williams, an M&A boutique, in June.
Before HSBC, Tang was with Deutsche Bank in New York.
