Global professional services firm Ernst & Young has added two new partners to its Australia legal team.

Michelle Segaert will lead EY’s newly formed Australian financial services team, while Andrew Ball will take charge of the firm’s Australia employment practice. Both lawyers are industry veterans with over three decades of experience.

Segaert has more than 15 years’ experience in financial services law in Australia and the U.K., including senior in-house legal roles at a boutique investment bank and a listed ASX 100 financial institution.

Priot to taking up her new role Segaert was a partner at Squire Patton Boggs and advised clients on many key areas of financial services law including regulation and regtech, corporate and trustee governance, corporate transactions, licensing regimes and investment fund formation, establishment and management.

Ball will lead the employment law practice for Australia at EY. Also based in Sydney and previously at DLA Piper, he brings with him 25 years experience in all areas of employment and workplace relations law. Andrew will be advising our clients on diverse aspects of employment law, from industrial relations to occupational health and safety.
