The Australian financial regulator is creating a new chief data office to evolve the way it will capture and use data up to 2020. It also named a new chief information officer.
Joanne «Jo» Harper has been acting information chief since February following the departure of Wendy Bryant and has now been confirmed in the role. An Australian Securities & Investments Commission (ASIC) spokesperson confirmed the appointment to finews.asia.
With experience in both private and public sector organisations, Harper brings significant experience in managing projects from small scale implementations through to multi-million dollar programs.
New Data Strategy
She joined ASIC in 2013 as senior manager, IT assurance and later became a program director. Prior to ASIC, she was an examiner and assessor at accreditation and exam institute APMG Australasia and a management consultant with PCS.
News of Harper's appointment occurs alongside the release of the regulator's data strategy for 2017 to 2020. The strategy includes the creation of a new chief data office and establishing a data and information governance framework.
