Since his recent arrival in Singapore Amrit Singh has been busy building new foundations, he tells finews.asia that 2018 looks bright.
Deutsche Bank's Amrit Singh was appointed head of global South Asia for the wealth management business in May 2012, he oversees a team that is spread across Asia, Middle East and Europe and is a member of the Deutsche Bank Wealth Management Asia Pacific executive committee.
Previously based in London Singh relocated to Singapore in September to be closer to this businesses key growth areas. He has wasted no time in setting out his stall either and during a conversation with finews.asia spoke about his plans to grow his business unit.
Singh has been with Deutsche Bank for over 14 years in a number of roles in corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions, (M&A) including as head of M&A for Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa region and as head of M&A for India, Middle East and Africa.
Traditional Banking Experience
As a corporate financier, Singh worked across various industry sectors and regions including Europe, India and the Middle East. His extensive experience in capital raising (both debt and equity) and advisory transactions has been across clients from European media and telecoms as well as a broad range of sectors in emerging markets.
All of his previous banking experience is now aligning as he works with clients who are predominantly from trading families, entrepreneurs and high achieving professionals in managing and growing their wealth.
Winning the Talent Battle
Ten new team members who will join the bank at managing director and director levels, are lined up to join his unit between now and early February 2018. The hires will be in Singapore and Dubai with yet more in the pipeline. This will bring Singh's geographically spread team up to near the 100 mark.
Singh says support from the bank is strong for growth in the Asian region and that he has been well backed by both Fabrizio Campelli, Deutsche Bank's global wealth management head and the firms head in Asia Lok Yim.
