After laying off its Hong Kong-based equity team earlier this year, Old Mutual Global Investors managing director for Asia departs.
In April this year Old Mutual Global Investors (OMGI) moved management of two of its Asia funds to a global equities desk laying off the Hong Kong team. Now the firm is about to lose its managing director for Asia, Carol Wong. A company spokesman confirmed Wong's departure to finews.asia.
Commitment to Asia
Based in Hong Kong, Wong joined the London headquartered firm in November 2013 to to drive business across Asia including in Singapore and the Asean region. During her tenure the firm augmented its China business hiring Richard Mo to develop relationships with regulators, financial institutions and distributors in the country.
In an interview with finews.asia in 2016 Wong said «Old Mutual has a very strong commitment to Asia businesses. We keep adding both investment as well as business development expertise on the ground. Otherwise, we won’t be able to accomplish our achievements in Asia.»
