Ex-UBS topshot Juerg Haller will take over from Ilan Hayim as chairman of Bank J. Safra Sarasin and as a member of the board of the holding company.
Ilan Hayim (pictured below) is about to step down from the boards of J. Safra Sarasin and will work with his successor to ensure a smooth transition, the bank said in a statement on Tuesday evening. Hayim informed the bank of his intentions after six years working for the Brazilian-Swiss company.
J. Safra Sarasin will propose Juerg Haller, 62, for election as successor of Hayim. Haller is a Swiss banker. He started his professional career at the Raiffeisenbank in Baden-Wettingen in 1973 and worked for J.P. Morgan in New York and Zurich between 1981 and 1984.
Starting in 1984 through July 2019, Haller worked in various management positions for UBS (before the merger at Swiss Bank Corp.). Most recently, he was executive vice chairman in global wealth management.
