Credit Suisse Hires Equity Research Head From UBS

With over 25 years of experience in the financial industry, Credit Suisse's new head of equity research joins the bank from rival UBS.

Credit Suisse has appointed Erica Poon Werkun as Asia Pacific head of equity research, the bank said in a statement on Friday. She will be responsible for enhancing its equity advisory offering in the region and delivering high-quality commercial investment ideas to clients.

She will also be responsible for driving market-leading content that can be leveraged across Credit Suisse’s integrated platform in the region and globally, the statement said. The appointment is effective immediately.

Seven Years in Investment Banking

With over 25 years of experience in the financial industry, Werkun spent 17 years in equity research and seven years in investment banking. She joins Credit Suisse from UBS, where she was a managing director and head of research for UBS Securities in China.

She was previously head of Asian consumer and internet research at UBS. Prior to that, she was at Goldman Sachs covering the consumer and technology sectors in Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Working with CSFBs Technology Group

Before that, she worked in the investment banking division of the Credit Suisse First Boston (CSFB) technology group in Palo Alto and Hong Kong, as well as at SG Cowen in San Francisco and New York, where she focused on the telecom, media and technology (TMT) sector.
