The bank is hiring to expand its research capabilities and align with the firm's emphasis on MSCI A-share index constituents in key sectors and its objective to further extend its differentiated China Securities Research coverage.
Among the 11 recruits at Credit Suisse Founder Securities are Alex Liu, who joins as head of securities research and head of China utilities and renewables research.
Liu, who was previously with UBS Securities and Goldman Sachs, will lead CSFS' plan to expand its securities research capabilities to include the consumer, healthcare, internet, renewable energy, technology and utilities sectors, according to an announcement on Friday.
The team will work closely with Edmond Huang, head of Hong Kong and China research at Credit Suisse, to build the bank’s onshore research presence and deliver unique commercial investment ideas that can be leveraged globally across our integrated platform.
Growing Importance
«These new hires are integral to the bank’s strategic focus on China and our plans to extend our leading wealth management and investment banking capabilities to the onshore market,» Zhenyi Tang, CEO for China, said.
Earlier this year, Credit Suisse increased its shareholding in Credit Suisse Founder Securities (CSFS) from 33.3 percent to 51 percent, following approval from the China Securities Regulatory Commission to become a majority shareholder, and appointed veteran CS banker Janice Hu as chairwoman of the firm.
Following the increase, the firm said it would seek full ownership of CSFS, as it wants Greater China to play an even more central role in the bank’s broader strategy in the region.
