The company said these moves would help it capitalize on the «extraordinary growth opportunities» across Asia Pacific (APAC), driven by rapidly increasing wealth across the region.

Charles Monat Associates has appointed Berry Wong, previously CEO of Hong Kong, to the newly created position of CEO of APAC, responsible for overseeing operations in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Singapore.

In this newly created position based in Hong Kong, Wong will continue to be an enabler of evolving client wealth planning objectives, while charting an ambitious expansion strategy across APAC, the firm said in an announcement on Wednesday.

Wong has over 25 years of experience in the banking and trust industry. He joined Charles Monat in 2017 from BNP Paribas, where he was regional head of wealth planning services, Asia Pacific. He was previously senior director, wealth planning services at HSBC Private Banking.

The Swiss-Asian life insurance broker for high-net-worth individuals also appointed a new CEO for Singapore in Nikki Koh (pictured above). He will succeed Martin Wong, who takes on the new position of group chief business development officer.

He has over 25 years of insurance and banking experience, acquired at Prudential, UOB and HSBC.

More Synergy

To support the firm’s aggressive global expansion plans, Charles Monat also established a new Global Advisory Council, reporting to the executive committee, that aims to build greater synergies across its operations in APAC, Europe, the Middle East and Americas.

The company also appointed Klaus Kiessling as group chief financial officer, while Li San Tan takes over his previous role as group COO.
