Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing has hired U.S. hedge fund Citadel's Asia chief operating officer.
John Buckley joins HKEX as its head of exchange operations and transformation, according to a statement, effective December this year.
Buckley will also join as a member of the group’s management committee and report to HEKX president and COO Calvin Tai.
Buckley has nearly 30 years of financial experience, most recently with Citadel as its Asia COO for the past three years. Previously, he spent seven years with J.P. Morgan in various senior roles including APAC chief risk officer, APAC chief financial officer and Singapore interim senior country officer.
