A former Deutsche Bank executive has joined Barclays as its new chief executive of China.
Angela Liu has been named CEO of China at Barclays, according to a statement, reporting to APAC head Jaideep Khanna.
Liu is tasked with strengthening Barclays’ cross-border corporate and investment banking (CIB) platform in China and leading the British lender’s growth initiatives in the country. She will also work with Shanghai branch manager Grace Kuo.
20-Year Veteran
Liu has nearly 20 years of banking experience, most recently with Deutsche Bank where she was its China and Hong Kong head of institutional client group. Previously, she also worked at Morgan Stanley for over 17 years where she served as chairman of the board for its mainland China banking unit.
«China presents a big opportunity for growth in Asia Pacific,» Khanna said. «Barclays’ global cross-border CIB platform and our strong collaboration between businesses will continue to drive growth for our clients in China.»
