J.P. Morgan expands in South Korea with the latest opening of a new commercial banking office.

The new office will have eight to 10 bankers led by ex-Standard Chartered Korea head of international corporates Min Kim, according to a «Reuters» report.

«We've been successful in every country we've been to in identifying and landing corporate clients,» said Andrew Kresse, head of corporate client banking international group in J.P. Morgan’s commercial banking arm.

«Some are like hidden champions. They may not be recognizable to the layperson but they have a big presence in [their country].»

International Expansion

Since 2019, J.P. Morgan has sought to expand outside of North America with a focus on mid-sized firms in 19 countries.

In South Korea, the American lender has established a presence for more than 50 years.
