The founder of Revolut is putting his burgeoning $7 billion fortune into a British family office.
Nik Storonsky registered a family office in the U.K., according to British corporate filings first reported by «Sifted» on Sunday. Storonsky, an ex-Credit Suisse derivatives trader who founded Revolut in 2014, is worth $7.1 billion, according to «Forbes».
He is part of an emerging cast of bankers grown wealthy through fintech and crypto including Niklas Nikolajsen, who co-founded Bitcoin Suisse in 2013, and Guillaume Pousaz, a Swiss EPFL graduate who in 2009 founded Checkout. Pousaz recently launched Zinal Growth, his family office, in Switzerland
Courting Controversy
Storonsky, who is incredibly private, wants to professionalize his investment portfolio, «Sifted» reported. He had cashed in some of his holding in Revolut during a summer fundraising which valued the fintech at $33 billion.
Revolut has courted controversy for aggressive recruiting and for doing too little to combat money laundering. Earlier this month, Storonsky told the «Evening Standard» that «money spoils our children,» in an interview.
