The Swiss bank's head of asset management nabbed a former long-time associate from UBS, finews.asia has learned.
Zurich-based Credit Suisse is hiring Dierk von Schuckmann as finance chief for its battered asset management unit, effective November 1, a person familiar with the matter told finews.asia. Von Schuckmann is currently in the same role in the commensurate unit as UBS.
The hire, first reported by «Reuters» on Wednesday, follows a carve-out of asset management from Credit Suisse's wider private bank. This occurred in the wake of a $10.1 billion implosion of a Greensill-managed line of supply chain funds.
Rehired To Firefight
As a result, Credit Suisse removed Eric Varvel and rehired Ulrich Koerner, who most recently ran UBS' fund arm. Koerner has tapped executives like a former Allianz risk expert, enlisted a key lawyer to the unit.
Von Schuckmann, the most recent hire, was Koerner's strategy chief at UBS for several years. The bank has begun trying to claw back money from some of Greensill's assets, prime among them those controlled by British industrial investor Sanjeev Gupta.
