Credit Suisse chairman Antonio Horta-Osorio has been reportedly found to have breached Covid-19 rules for a second time this year in a preliminary investigation by the Swiss bank.
The investigation found that Antonio Horta-Osorio had attended the Wimbledon tennis finals on the weekend of July 10 and 11 during a visit to the U.K., according to a «Reuters» report citing unnamed sources.
At the time, most European countries including Switzerland were on the U.K.’s «amber list» which required a 10-day quarantine for visitors upon arrival in the country.
Further Action
The findings by Credit Suisse’s legal team were passed to the audit committee on the bank’s board before Christmas and the Swiss bank will now investigate and decide whether any further action is required, the report added.
«Passengers are responsible for ensuring they comply with all travel rules, including providing accurate information on their Passenger Locator Form, and failure to do so could lead to a fine or imprisonment,» said a U.K. government spokesperson, adding that they don’t comment on specific cases.
Swiss Violation
The investigation into Horta-Osorio’s Covid violations were prompted by the recent breach committed in Switzerland.
After arriving on November 28, Horta-Osorio left again on December 1 despite requirements for a 10-day quarantine.
Horta-Osorio has since admitted to the violation and apologized.
The case is also being reviewed by prosecutors in the canton of St Gallen after he reported it to them and he could face a fine of up to 5000 Swiss francs ($5,463).
