OCBC's Indonesian subsidiary recently filed a report against the owner and president director of local cigarette giant Gudang Garam.
During the weekend, OCBC NISP filed a police report against Susilo Wonowidjojo over alleged fraud involving 232 billion rupiah ($15 million) of loans to a wig company owned by the Indonesian billionaire, according to media reports.
Combined with loans elsewhere, the wig company reportedly owes multiple banks more than 1 trillion rupiah.
Cigarette Tycoon
66-year old Wonowidjojo is the owner and president-director of Gudang Garam, one of Indonesia’s top makers of clove cigarettes, which was founded by his father Surya Wonowidjojo in 1958. The firm would go on to become a major conglomerate, extending to other businesses including construction and infrastructure development.
Today, Wonowidjojo is a renowned billionaire in Indonesia with an estimated net worth of $3.5 billion, according to Forbes.
