HSBC's long-time head of global markets in Singapore is moving to a fintech adviser. He is one of the highest-ranking bankers from traditional finance to move to the burgeoning technology industry.
Asian research and advisory firm Lightbulb Capital said it hired Matthew Cannon (pictured left), former head of global markets at HSBC in Singapore. Although the firm has already been founded in 2014 in Hong Kong, Cannon will join as co-founder, according to a media statement on Friday. Cannon, who joins from May 1 subject to regulatory approval, has more than 25 years of sales and trading experience in London, New York, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Korea and most recently Singapore.
Singapore Push
«Matthew Cannon’s C-suite experience and regulatory and financial markets expertise makes him the perfect partner as Lightbulb Capital expands its advisory and investment activities», Lightbulb founder Daniel Liebau said in a statement.
The firm, which expanded to Singapore in 2016, focuses on consulting and advisory, research and development. Lightbulb caters to clients in Asia as well as non-Asian clients wishing to expand in the region.
