The firm has appointed an internal candidate to replace a departing veteran.
Swiss Re, the world's second-largest reinsurer, has announced the appointment of Russell Higginbotham as CEO reinsurance Asia and regional president, effective 8 July, the firm said in a statement on Thursday.
Higginbotham, who is currently Swiss Re's CEO reinsurance EMEA and regional president, has been with the firm for 25 years in various roles, and brings his extensive familiarity with the Asia Pacific region to his new role. His replacement has yet to be announced.
Veteran Departs
He replaces Swiss Re veteran Jayne Plunkett (pictured below), who has left the firm to pursue other career opportunities, the statement said.

During her 20-year tenure with the company, Plunkett grew the firm's Asia business, focusing on China, the firm said. She was also Swiss Re's global head of Casualty Reinsurance and head of Casualty Underwriting for Asia, where she focused on growing and developing our business in response to technological change.
