BNY Mellon Investment Management, a leading investment manager with more than $1.8 trillion in assets under management, announced the appointment of Eric Yu as Vice President, Institutional Distribution. 

​In this newly created role, Yu will focus on driving business growth and opportunities for BNY Mellon’s eight leading investment firms, the firm said in a media statement on Monday. Specifically focusing on the Greater Bay Area and based in Hong Kong, Eric reports to Jessie Zhang, Head of Distribution, Greater China at BNY Mellon Investment Management.

«Eric Yu has a proven track record both as a portfolio manager and working with institutional clients across the region to build relationships and grow assets. Additionally, Yu has worked in Shenzhen and Hong Kong which will be hugely beneficial as we grow our presence in the Greater Bay Area,» said Zhang. 

Past Experiences

Yu has over 12 years’ experience spanning both portfolio management and institutional distribution. He was most recently at Bosera Asset Management, where he was Executive Director Sales and Client Service. Before this Eric was a Director, Portfolio Manager at China Southern Fund Management. Prior to this, he was Fund Manager, Fixed Income & Absolute Return team at China Investment Corporation.

The Greater Bay Area encompasses nine cities Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Foshan, Dongguan, Huizhou, Zhongshan, Zhuhai, Jiangmen and Zhaoqing along with Hong Kong and Macau. It has a population of 71 million and recorded a combined gross domestic product of US$1,642 billion in 2018, according to figures from the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.
