Aberdeen Standard Investments hires a new Asia Pacific head of real estate investment research, following a series of recent moves to expand capabilities in the asset class.
Min Chow Sai joins ASI as its head of investment research – real estate, Asia Pacific. In his Singapore-based role, Sai reports to Andrew Allen, London-based global head of investment research, real estate.
Prior to joining ASI, Sai was with Nomura as an executive director responsible for Singapore and regional listed real estate investment research. Previously, he held similar roles with Lehman and BNP Paribas.
«Real estate is gaining more and more traction from international investors in the current low yield world, thanks to the asset class’ track record of delivering robust risk-adjusted returns and enhancing portfolio diversification,» said Allen in a statement welcoming Sai.
Real Estate Expansion
ASI continues to expand in the region and its recent moves have been particularly focused on real estate, in line with Allen’s statements about international investor demand for the asset class.
ASI completed the acquisition of Asian real estate investment management firm Orion Partners in February this year and followed up with the establishment of a joint venture with Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank in June to invest in Japanese residential real estate. It also hired Ono Hidetoshi as its head of direct real estate, Japan, formerly a managing director at Manulife’s Japan real estate unit.
