The appointment comes after a year-long succession arrangement, with the position previously held by a pair of co-chief operating officers.

Asset manager Value Partners has named Patricia Cheung as COO, effective 1 May 2020, the Hong Kong-based firm announced in a statement.

Cheung joined Value Partners in 2018 and in July 2019 was named co-chief operating officer with Roger Hepper, jointly overseeing the group's operations and back office. She has nearly 20 years of experience in the financial sector, holding senior positions in investment banking, central counterparty, and asset management businesses, the statement said.

Established in 1993, the firm operates in Shanghai, Shenzhen, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and London, and has assets under management of almost $14 billion as of end-February 2020.

Veteran Retires

Hepper, who joined the firm in 2016, will retire at the end of the month after more than three decades in the industry.

He has held a number of leadership roles in his career, including managing director and COO of Asia Pacific for J.P. Morgan Asset Management.
