Texas-headquartered Dimensional Fund Advisors appoints a chief executive for Asia ex-Japan to drive regional growth out of Singapore.

Joel Kim has been named chief executive officer of Dimensional’s Asia ex-Japan business, effective August 2020, with responsibilities to lead a multi-year growth strategy in addition to day-to-day operations. In his Singapore-based role, Kim report to Steve Clark, president of Dimensional International, who oversaw the regional business before the new appointment.

Kim joined Dimensional in 2016 as a senior portfolio manager and was most recently the London-based head of fixed income in its international unit. Prior to joining the firm, Kim was the head of Asia Pacific fixed income with Blackrock in Singapore. He also spent nearly 14 years with ING Investment Management also focusing on fixed income portfolio management.

Dimensional was founded nearly four decades ago and has worked with institutions in Asia for 30 years. The firm has specialization in systematic factor investing and $514 billion in assets under management globally, as of June 30 this year.
