Global consultancy Mercer has expanded its wealth business in China with the hire of a former portfolio manager from Ping An.
Fred Wen joins Mercer as its China wealth business leader, according to a statement, effective as of today.
Wen will join the regional team led by Asia wealth business leader Janet Li and report to Greater China chief executive Catherine Li.
Wen has nearly 15 years of financial experience and was most recently with Ping An Life Insurance in China where he was an executive director and senior portfolio manager. Previously, he also worked with Willis Towers Watson as a senior investment consultant for China.
China Opportunity
According to the firm, increased access to China’s financial markets has created new opportunities, particularly with regard to sustainability.
