The British-American law firm has roped in a specialist in capital markets, M&A and private equity transactions to boost its business in India.
Hogan Lovells has appointed Biswajit Chatterjee as a partner at its corporate and finance practice in Singapore, the firm announced on Thursday.
Chatterjee, who has advised on some of the largest equity and debt offerings in India and Southeast Asia, joins the firm from Squire Patton Boggs, where he is the co-chair of its India practice and heads its Southeast Asia corporate practice.
In the role, he will work closely with Stephanie Keen, Hogan Lovells APAC head of corporate and finance, and colleagues across the firm's integrated global India desk.
Growth Opportunities
Singapore is Hogan Lovells' regional hub for India, Southeast Asia, and South Asia. The firm said the hire will enable itto expand its India practice and tap on opportunities in the subcontinent.
«The opportunities in the Indian market are vast and aligned with our strength in highly regulated sectors, such as technology and life sciences and healthcare,» Keen, said.
Recent deals led by the team in the region include advising Indian digital commerce platform Flipkart on almost $2 billion of fundraisings in 2020, advising Facebook on a $5.7 billion investment for a 9.99 percent stake in Jio Platforms and supporting Groupe ADP in a share purchase agreement to acquire a 49 percent stake in India's GMR Airports group for €1.36 billion.
