He brings extensive experience in financial restructuring and insolvency matters, distressed asset sales as well as cross-border and special situation financings.
Law firm Dechert has appointed Hong Kong-based Daniel Margulies as a partner in its financial restructuring practice, according to an announcement on Tuesday.
Margulies joins from Kirkland & Ellis, where he was a partner. He was at O’Melveny & Myers and was based in Singapore before relocating to Hong Kong in 2015.
Margulies will lead the firm’s financial restructuring practice in Asia and expand the firm's emerging markets restructuring practice, focusing on cross-border restructuring, insolvency and special situations financing matters across Asia, the announcement said.
Growing Practice
The hire is Dechert's first partner addition in Hong Kong in two years, and follows a series of senior hires over the last two years to expand the firm’s global financial restructuring practice.
Dechert’s Hong Kong office serves as a strategic location for the firm in Asia, where it is investing and expanding its client offering in the region. Across Asia, Dechert has three offices in Beijing, Hong Kong and Singapore.
In recent years, Dechert’s Asia capability has been strengthened with the hires of Maria Sit as a partner in its global litigation practice in Hong Kong and Maria Tan Pedersen as a partner in the corporate and securities team in Singapore.
