Standard Chartered has hired a former private banker from British rival HSBC to join its Hong Kong office.
Sidney Wang joins Standard Chartered’s private banking team in Hong Kong as managing director, market head, Greater China, according to a statement. Based in Hong Kong, he reports to Peter Tung, regional head, private banking, Greater China & North Asia.
Wang has over 20 years of banking experience, including 15 years in private banking and wealth management. He was most recently at HSBC as an international manager who worked in the UK and Europe, Middle East, North and South America as well as Greater China.
Within the region, Wang led the launch of HSBC’s onshore private banking business in mainland China. He also supported coverage of Asian ultra-high net worth individuals and family office clients.
