Frankfurt-headquartered Deutsche Bank has announced changes to its operations team in the emerging markets business, finews.asia has learned.

Deutsche Bank has appointed Geraldine Chow as chief operating officer (COO) for Singapore wealth management, according to an internal memo seen by finews.asia, effective December 2. In the expanded role, she has various responsibilities including heading «change-the-bank» initiatives across the whole APAC wealth management platform.

Chow has nearly 20 years of experience, joining from UBS where she last served in business integration after working at Credit Suisse for more than 14 years. Previously, she also worked at ANZ.

Chow succeeds Danny Heng.

Middle East and LatAm

Head of emerging markets (EM) strategy David Weis will take on additional responsibility and lead strategic change initiatives in close collaboration with COO functions for the Middle East and Latin America.

In addition, EM COO Sudhir Nemali has decided to leave Deutsche Bank to pursue outside opportunities after more than 17 years with the German lender, including an instrumental role in steering the private bank in Asia. His final day will be December 9 and a replacement will be announced in due course.

The roles of Cherris Wong and Anupama Bajaj in Hong Kong and India, respectively, will remain unchanged with functional reporting lines into the incoming EM COO and local reporting lines into respective sub-regional heads. Chow will also report to the incoming EM COO.

When contacted, a spokesperson for the bank confirmed the contents of the memo.
