Following the retirement of Peter Kwok, BNP Paribas has announced a new Chief Executive Officer of its China unit.
With immediate effect Bing Chen takes up the role with a mandate to lead and further BNP Paribas' (BNPP) China's growth.
Chen will be based in Shanghai and will report to Paul Yang, Head of Greater China at BNPP, the bank said in a press release.
Chen was most recently the Head of Corporate and Business Development for Greater China and Head of BNPP’ RMB Competence Centre.
Long Relationship
Prior to joining the bank, Chen was the General Manager of Trafigura Investment in China and before that spent 20 years across the United States, Europe, and China holding executive management positions in banking, trading, and structured finance businesses.
«We will continue to adapt and optimise our onshore and offshore offerings, Bing will work in close coordination with our regional business heads to deepen and widen our corporate and institutional client base by helping both Chinese and multinational corporations to grow in and out of China,» said Yang.
BNP Paribas' presence in China dates back to 1860 when it opened its first office in Shanghai, it currently employs in the region of 450 people in China.
