A Credit Suisse mining and metals banker has re-joined two former colleagues at a mergers-and-acquisitions boutique.

Paul McTaggart is joining Blackpeak Capital, a Sydney-based M&A boutique specialized in the technology sector, «AFR» reported on Tuesday.

McTaggart was head of metals, mining and commodities research in Australia and co-head of of wider equity research in the country until April.

Like many smaller upstarts, Blackpeak is successfully winning favor over major investment banks for corporate finance business.

The firm was founded three years ago by Scott Colvin, a long-time Credit Suisse metals and mining banker in Australia and Hong Kong. The boutique is chaired by Max Billingham, another Credit Suisse M&A veteran.
