UBS spinoff Crestone Wealth Management appointed a new chief investment officer.

The UBS spinoff has gone back to its roots and named Scott Haslem to the role of chief investment officer (CIO), replacing David Sokulsky. Haslem was most recently the managing director and chief economist, head of Macro Research for Australia & New Zealand at UBS.

Whilst at UBS, Haslem ran the Australian economics team, which ranked at the top of both equities and fixed income research polls. Prior to joining the Swiss bank, he spent seven years working for the Reserve Bank of Australia, primarily in the economic activity and forecasting section. Haslem will commence his new role in January 2018 the company said in a press release.

Haslem left UBS earlier this year, as finews.asia reported at the time, the Swiss bank moved quickly appointing George Tharenou, who joined UBS in 2006, would take up the role of chief economist, Australia & New Zealand.
