Singapore's first Olympic gold medalist is eyeing a career in wealth management. He has linked up with the city-state's largest lender.
DBS pulled of a major publicity coup: the bank signed Joseph Schooling, the country's first Olympic gold medalist, to a three-year partnership, it said in a statement on Tuesday.
The move comes as the 22-year-old ends his collegiate career and turns professional. Schooling, who is wildly popular in Singapore since winning gold in the 100-meter butterfly in Rio de Janeiro in 2016, also recently clinched a sponsorship deal with Hugo Boss. The Germany luxury house is keen to expand in Asia.

DBS said it intends to utilize the popularity of Schooling, who is currently studying business at the University of Texas, to tap into the next generation of customers via social media engagements and community activities.
The athlete has expressed an interest in wealth management as a long-term career goal after leaving sports. DBS said it will arrange internships and mentoring sessions in its wealth management unit when to coincide with Schooling's training schedule.
