Malaysian leader Mahathir Mohamad recently hinted at knowing the precise whereabouts of financier Low Taek Jho. A government source has now pinpointed the location.

The AWOL Low Taek Jho has reportedly been spotted in Thailand, Cambodia, China and Hong Kong since the 1MBD probe blew open in 2016. Now however, according to a Malaysian government source, Low is hiding in Macau, «The Malaysian Reserve» reported.

Malaysian authorities are unable to pursue Low, better known as Jho Low, as Malaysia does not have an extradition treaty with the former Portuguese colony, now better known as a gambling mecca.

Willing to Cooperate

Mahathir intimated last week he knew of Low's location when he said the government knows where the financier is holed up outside of Malaysia, but doesn't have extradition treaties with the country in question.

Macau is a special administrative region of China and has no extradition treaties with any other country. But based on the local law, it can honor an extradition request if the crime a person committed is also deemed a crime in Macau, according to the report.

Following the issuance of a summons by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, or MACC, Low is said to have instructed his lawyers to make contact with the Malaysian officials.
