A day after reports placed him in Macau fugitive financier Low Taek Jho is now alleged to be in Dubai and willing to speak to Malaysian anti-graft authorities.
The ultimate witness in the 1MDB case has indicated he wants to cooperate with the Malaysian authorities on the scandal. His legal team is expected to meet with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in the wealthy emirate, the Malaysian Insight reported today.
Following the unexpected change of government in his native Malaysia investigations into the corrupt wealth fund were immediately ramped up. The new administration wasted no time in going after the main protagonists in the 1MDB affair quickly issuing a summons for Low and several others linked to the case.
Missing Billions
Low is seen as the the key person who can identify where assets, including expensive jewellery, have been hidden and potentially unveil other players in the fraud of billions of Malaysian ringgit from the state-owned investment fund.
Malaysian leader Mahathir Mohamad intimated last week he knew of Low's location when he said the government knows where the financier is holed up outside of Malaysia, but doesn't have extradition treaties with the country in question. Until today that location was thought to be Macau.
