The announcement comes as firm's head of Asia and its global emerging markets (GEM) team is returning to Australia to manage assets at a boutique investment firm.

Andrew Swan will be replaced by Gordon Fraser and Stephen Andrews, who will become co-heads of its GEM equities team, while Sam Vecht will become head of emerging Europe, frontiers and alternative strategies, finews.asia has learned.

The trio will report to Belinda Boa, GEM chief investment officer.

Swan joined Blackrock in 2011 and has been based in Hong Kong, where he was previously head of Asian fundamental equities. He joined the firm from J.P. Morgan, where he spent 17 years, initially in Australia before a move to Singapore.

Smooth Transition

He will hand over his portfolio management duties immediately, but will remain at the firm until mid-April to ensure a smooth transition, the report said.

«The team has been developing leaders at several levels and will use this opportunity to give them additional responsibility. There will be no changes to the investment process,» said a Blackrock spokesperson in a statement.
