The bank's diSCover Lab will offer learning solutions catered to the entire spectrum of a career cycle – from interns to work-study trainees, fresh graduates, mid-careerists, and «silver» employees.
Standard Chartered is launching a global learning lab to boost the job readiness, career prospects and future competitiveness of the Singapore workforce, the bank announced on Thursday.
There will be a hybrid of virtual and face-to-face learning, with bite-sized learning modules to longer programs up to 18 months, and a curriculum that covers topics such as data, blockchain, artificial intelligence and personal development. The lab will also bring together the bank's nine Future Skills academies that train staff in future growth areas such as technology and digital banking.
Located at its Changi 1 campus, the bank said the lab aims to train and upskill 8,000 employees in Singapore by 2022.
Strengthening Workforce
At the same time, Standard Chartered plans to ramp up its International Graduate program in Singapore, which feeds graduates to its Technology & Innovation team based in Singapore that works on global projects and assignments, and will partner tech giants such as Microsoft and IBM to build a local talent pipeline.
The bank previously announced that it will invest S$5 million to upskill and strengthen its Singapore workforce, which supports its digitalization and business growth plans as a Significantly Rooted Foreign Bank in the republic – which is home to the majority of Standard Chartered's global business leadership, technology, operations and innovation hubs.
«It is critical that we deepen our tech capabilities in Singapore and build the latest skills which prepare us for the future of banking, while offering clients the best solutions and experiences,» group chief information officer Michael Gorriz, said in the statement.
