Singapore’s UOB has created a sustainability advisory panel to advise the bank’s board and management.
Three people were appointed as UOB’s sustainability advisory, namely Neo Gim Huay, managing director of the Centre for Nature and Climate at the World Economic Forum (WEF), Yoon Young Kim, president of Schneider Electric and Mark Gainsborough, the chairman of Seatrium.
The three of them will work with UOB’s corporate sustainability office for one year, starting from 1 October 2023, according to the bank as cited by The Business Times. UOB said the members are experts in their own fields of climate science, sustainability in Southeast Asia, and the wider industrial economy.
Sustainability Trends
In their role, these members will advise UOB’s board and management on a range of matters in sustainability. It includes sustainability trends, the management of environmental, social and governance-related risks and opportunities, and UOB’s overall sustainability strategy, targets and initiatives.
UOB’s movement aligns its commitment to net zero and its support of transition that advances socioeconomic development in tandem with decarbonization in the region. Sustainability is a critical global issue that requires urgent attention and action, UOB’s deputy chairman and CEO Wee Ee Cheong said.
