The latest summit hosted by the Hong Kong Academy for Wealth Legacy reportedly around a 50 percent increase in the number of attendees, including family office representatives.
The Hong Kong Academy for Wealth Legacy (HKAWL) hosted a three-day summit from Thursday to Saturday with attendees from mainland China, Philippines, UK, Qatar and other markets.
«Hong Kong's strategic location and unique value proposition make it an ideal gateway for family offices looking to capture the opportunities in this part of the world,» said Hong Kong’s financial secretary Paul Chan in a speech at HKAWL's «Legacy Summit Fall Edition».
Increased Attendance Rate
Compared to the inaugural event in May 2023 which saw more than 100 attendees, HKAWL’s second summit saw the attendance of around 150 family business and office representatives, according to an «SCMP» report. Notable attendees this year include Jack Selby, a managing director of PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel’s family office.
HKAWL was formed in in 2023 with the aim of serving family offices, focusing on activities like networking, knowledge sharing and talent development. The government-initiated institution is chaired by Adrian Cheng, heir-apparent to one of Hong Kong’s wealthiest families.
