Michael Scherrer, head of the Swiss bank's bank's Russia, central and eastern Europe team in Asia, is leaving to return to Switzerland, a source told finews.asia.

Scherrer has been with the bank for five years, prior to which he set up a similar business for ultra-rich clients at BSI, or Banca della Svizzera Italiana, a now-defunct bank grounded by the 1MDB scandal. His role in Zurich hasn't yet been finalized, a second source said, but he will continue to cover the same market.

Julius Baer is believed to be looking for a replacement for Scherrer, who began his career at Coutts, and is expected to make an announcement early next month.
