Credit Suisse continues to bolster its private banking business in Asia with the hire of a former structured products veteran from rival UBS, according to an internal memo seen by finews.asia.
Emmanuel Triomphe joins Credit Suisse’s private banking arm as its head of trading solutions sales and advisory within the ATS (Asia Pacific trading solutions) unit, according to an internal memo seen by finews.asia.
In his new Hong Kong-based role, Triomphe reports to Yves-Alain Sommerhalder, APAC head of trading solutions. Triomphe also has a «dotted reporting line», the memo added, to Francois Monnet and Benjamin Cavalli, north Asia and south Asia head of private banking at Credit Suisse, respectively.
Trading Capability Boost
Triomphe is a seasoned veteran especially with regards to structured products in Asia – a highly favored solution by the region’s hands-on traders due to their love for leverage (often embedded) and the plethora of features such as principal protection.
He has 20 years of private banking experience and was most recently with UBS’s wealth arm where he was its head of global capital markets structured products and APAC head of global markets specialists across equity, fixed income, foreign exchange and direct access.
«This appointment underpins our strategic commitment to deliver on regional collaboration opportunities,» the memo said. «Aligning our client and product expertise to provide a more comprehensive offering to our clients is key to the continued success of our APAC and ATS franchise.»
